Person

Lydia Bennet

Also known as Lydia.

The youngest Bennet daughter at fifteen, tall, high-spirited, and heedless. She is her mother's favourite, fond of officers and dancing, and sure of her own consequence.

Chapter IX

At fifteen she is already the boldest of the sisters, husband-hunting in earnest and happiest among the officers at Meryton.

Chapter XVI

Mr. Wickham and the militia are her whole conversation; she sees nothing in a man but a red coat.

Chapter XXVI

She and Kitty walk to Meryton almost daily for the officers' company, heedless of everything else.

Chapter XXXIX

Home from Meryton, she can talk of nothing but the regiment's removal to Brighton and her longing to follow it.

Chapter XLI

She is invited to Brighton as the particular friend of the colonel's wife, and goes off in raptures, deaf to every caution.

Chapter XLVII

She runs off from Brighton with Wickham, unmarried, careless of the ruin it threatens to bring on her whole family.

Chapter LI

Married to Wickham at last and shameless about it, she lets slip that Mr. Darcy was at the wedding, a thing she was sworn to keep secret.
